Apply before you book your flight
Most applications are approved within minutes. Some applications require additional documents and can take several days. Wait until you receive approval before travelling.
Use the right passport
Double-check your passport number before submitting your application. Your approved eTA is linked electronically to that passport. If you get a new passport, you need a new eTA.
Keep your confirmation
You do not need to print your eTA, but keeping your confirmation email is useful for your records. Airline staff check your eTA using your passport. Final entry is determined by Canadian border officials.
